The Village of Four Seasons is accepting applications for a full time Code Enforcement Officer. This position comes with benefits and requires a responsible individual willing to work 35 hours per week. Hours are generally 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Hourly range $19.00 - $24.00 depending on qualifications. Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to background investigation. There is no application deadline, and interviews will be conducted periodically until the position is filled.



Inspects and enforces adopted regulatory codes and ordinances pertaining to new and existing residential buildings and related improvements, including structural, electrical, mechanical, onsite wastewater, and plumbing installations. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Village of Four Seasons Building Official.

Reviews, approves and issues permits for new and existing homes, buildings, and related improvements.

Performs plan reviews as needed.

Patrols construction sites and subdivisions to detect work being conducted without permit.

Performs inspections, prepares reports and issues written orders when necessary for corrective action as assigned.

Issues stop work orders for unauthorized construction.

Performs damage assessment of building structures after disasters.

Ability to establish and maintain courteous working relations with the general public, contractors, co-workers and government officials.

Provides technical assistance to developers, builders, contractors, and the general public.

Investigates complaints relative to ordinance and code violations and pursues appropriate enforcement action.

Reads and understands blueprints.

Ability to use email platform, windows-based word processing, spreadsheet, and database.

Maintains knowledge of current ICC and NEC codes.

Attends training seminars. Takes professional certification courses to improve knowledge and skills and maintain certifications.

Performs all work in compliance with Village of Four Seasons safety standards.

Acts as the municipal representative for special projects; responsible for communications with the contractor, architect, etc. on an as needed basis.

Performs other work as assigned by the Building Official.

Applicants must be able to traverse uneven, vegetated, and sloping terrains in all types of weather conditions. Including accessing the inside of buildings, including basements, crawl spaces, roofs etc. May face exposure to poisonous weeds, dangerous animals, infectious agents, loud noise, sharp or falling objects and hostile persons when performing responsibilities. Must be able to lift and carry for short distances up to 40 pounds.



Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.

High school graduate or equivalent, vocational/technical training in building technology, engineering, construction, or related field.

Must have a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operators license and reliable transportation.

Current ICC International Residential Code certification or become certified within nine (9) months of employment.   

Employment is contingent on successfully completing a full criminal background check, reference check, physical and drug screening. Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to background investigation.

Federal, state, and local building, housing and safety codes and regulations.

Methods and techniques of inspecting buildings, structures, and facilities.

Regulations and standards governing building inspection activities.

Construction principles, practices, materials, and methods.

Occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Record keeping and file maintenance principles and procedures.
